Why "Showtime" for a handle?

The character was originally going to be named Golden Tate, an American football player that most people don't know but I am a fan of and his nickname is Showtime. Then the name Tate got a bad name in American media so I decided to change the name but kept the handle. The character is also from southern California home of the L.A. Lakers which during the 80's were known as the "Showtime" Lakers. This is why he was often described as wearing purple and gold as those are the Lakers colors.

OK that's a lot lets see.

1) Biggest curveball was the price of the auction items. I didn't think they would be cheap but I didn't expect them to be in the millions so as soon as the first item opened at 1m I had to adjust my plans.

2) Showtime didn't really throw me any curveballs and was probably the easiest character to play since I started doing pbp games.

3) I'm not sure who dropped and when but I would have liked to have gotten more time with Sapphire and Alrik.

4) Not getting the cyberdeck, hands down.

5) Hmm, not really. His whole backstory was wrapped up in an obsession with Alt and Rache for the most part. Oh, well he is estranged from his family who are all happy corpo wage-slaves working for Biotechnica.

6) Showtime is...puzzled. On the one hand he had a good time, met some new people and made a lot of money but in the end he failed to get the thing he wanted and his beliefs and world view have been shattered. The silver lining is that he isn't going to stop. If Alt and Rache aren't fighting the fight anymore then he just has to work harder and do things his own way. Ultimately the next time people see him he will much the same person but more personally secure.

*Regarding the cyberdeck. Rache Bartmoss created the R.A.B.I.D.S. that make the oldNet unsafe for anyone and he had to have programmed them on something. The hope was that Showtime could find something on it to help him either slip past the R.A.B.I.D.S. or remove them. That is still something he is going to need to do on his quest but without any help or guidance it will be a lot harder.

*Well...I'm not sure I ever said it out loud but I had the funny thought that it was him around D3. I am basically one loosened screw away from being a full blown conspiracy theorist IRL so I tend to have weird and baseless thoughts. What steered me away from that idea was the appearance of Alt because surely Rache is actually dead. My best guess for who the Collector is was Hanako Arasaka but when all the clues were laid out it had to be Rache.
